Enjoy a story while learning early lessons in art theory and creativity!
Doodlebugs combines art with literacy for preschoolers. Each session starts with a story and ends with creation. All ages are welcome, but book selection is ideal for ages 4 -7.
January 28 @ 10:30 a.m. - My Mom is a Spider
Louise Bourgeois loved spiders because they are strong, protective, and they are excellent weavers, just like Louise’s mother was. Today we’ll look at some of Louise’s artwork, including her 30-foot giant spider sculpture Maman (French for “mom”), and then we’ll weave our own arachnid-y art.
February 25 @ 10:30 a.m. - That’s “Sew” Sonia
Sonia Delaunay turned colors and shapes into artwork to wear, artwork to drive, even artwork for the stage. Today her avant-garde designs will inspire our own fashionably fabulous forms.
March 25 @ 10:30 a.m. - Abstract Party!
Florine Stettheimer’s life was wild and glamorous. She threw colorful, lavish parties for friends and other artists, which we can see in her artwork. You’re invited to this fun and musical art-making party, and you can even wear your wildest party outfit!
April 28 @ 10:30 a.m. - Mary's Magic Kingdom
